[Fashion] For the Love of Mint. #MINTspiration

From left to right: Christian Louboutin So Kate, SJP Collection Bobbi, Manolo Blahnik BB Pump

So it should be no big secret that Mint is one of my favorite colors! It's just so pretty, feminine and it really pops on my skin tone.
Not sure if you've ever noticed but mint is one of the most difficult colors to find in shoes! Especially better quality shoes.

Photo from hollyannaeree's Instagram

If you follow me on Instagram you've seen my most recent mint purchase - "Bobbi" from the Sarah Jessica Parker x Nordstrom collaboration - that gave me the idea for the group photo which gave me the idea for the blog post and here we are. : )

I wanted to show you some of the mint shoes I've found from some of my favorite designers and give you some info on them. (All are Full leather, Italian Made shoes)

"So Kate" is currently one of my favorite styles from Christian Louboutin (Instagram write up HERE) - it's for sure one of the more comfortable 120mm no platform shoes I've tried. (Keeping in mind it's still a 5" heel with no platform - it's never going to be like wearing flip flops no matter the brand or price!) The fit is also much better than the previous style of Pigalle (they have changed the Pigalle recently to have a better fit, more like the So Kate yet the new Pigalle falls short for me. Photo comparison HERE and Pigalle vs. Pigalle write up HERE). They are suppose to fit more true to size yet I still find that I need a 36.5 in these (37 is my true size). The patent version of this shoe is a bit difficult to break in, yet the suede I find to be very comfortable right from the start and only get more comfortable with time. For patent So Kate I currently own a black pair and this "aqua" pair - the black broke in quite easily after a few wears around the house while this aqua pair...well I'm still working on it.
(On a side note: as much as I love Louboutins I am kind of taking a break from them - there are other styles that I am just getting into more right now and I am a little over the red sole. Sometimes it's a cool pop but sometimes it's just too much! I don't always want to be so flashy. Who knows, months from now I could be back on the CL train but those are just my thoughts at the moment. It doesn't help that brands like Saint Laurent and Manolo Blahink are about 1000000000X more comfortable (generally speaking).)

(says Mint on the site yet Blue Suede on the box)
Of all the pairs I tried on at Nordstrom (they didn't have every style at the store I went to) the "Bobbi" seemed to be the best quality. The style and overall feel of these are very similar to Manolo Blahnik, not that I'm surprised given who her partner for SJP Collection is. The regular leather styles I tried weren't as luxe in my opinion - especially for the price. I just wasn't overwhelmed with the quality of the leather on most but I am however always pleased to find a shoe with a soft leather sole.
Normally I do not buy such open sandals (open toe d'Orsay) with no ankle strap because I have a narrow heel and it is often difficult for me to keep the shoe on but I really could not pass these up. I am a big Sex and the City fan and really wanted something from this collection. (Not to mention these just scream SATC to me!) As far as fit I did need to size down 1/2 a size, not surprising (although I prefer a 7 in Manolo Blahnik's Sedaraby) - what was surprising is that for a 3.5" (relatively low) heel these aren't overly comfortable. I have not worn them out and about yet but have given them a hour or so in the house - it seems like what is making them not so comfy for me is that my foot is working a bit to hold the shoe on, forcing me to unintentionally try and grab onto the shoe with my toe/ball of my foot area. These are the best fit I can get with this particular shoe, they don't slip off the back while walking but just something to keep in mind if you've never tried this style before. Also there seems to be a bit of friction on the ball of the foot closest to the toes - a small ball of the foot pad can probably fix that although I hate adding anything to my shoes.
Other than that, a really pretty and feminine shoe - great price point and I LOVE her grosgrain detailing on the back of all the shoes!

Not much to say about these - hands down Manolo Suede BB Pumps are the most comfortable pointy toe pumps I own. I have several pairs and love collecting the different colors that come out every season. (Lime Pair featured HERE on my blog) With a 4" heel (I am most comfortable with 4" for heels) and a leather sole that is almost as soft as the suede itself, I could walk forever in these. Not the sexiest shoe on the planet but for sure a classic.
Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman currently have a deal with Manolo where you can customize your BB pumps! You choose the color, material and heel height. One of these days I want to try for a 115mm heel - as much as I love the comfort of a 100/105mm heel just that little extra really makes the shoe look so much better to me!

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this post. I know I am not on a regular schedule with these (or anything!) but I appreciate those that follow and enjoy.
I hope this was helpful to some of you and if nothing else a bit of eye candy. ; )

Love,
Holly

Changes to the Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120mm - WHYYY?!?! Comparison Photos (pic heavy)

Hey everyone!
I meant to post this up last week since I haven't really seen anyone talk about it but I wanted to show you all the difference between the NEW Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120mm and the Pigalle 120mm we are all use to.

I ordered these when I saw them go up on the site and wanted to give them a try due to the new color (Neptune). Went ahead and ordered my normal 36.5 (6.5) size as Pigalles use to run about a 1/2 size large and much to my surprise I could NOT get my foot inside these! Now I know patent stretches a lot especially Louboutin patent but this was ridiculous.

Of course couldn't compare these to my broken in Pigalle 120mm because after you wear them the whole shape of the back and toe box changes so I grabbed a New In Box pair that I had in my closet and was blown away by the differences.

I'll stop talking now and let you see for yourself but for reference these are the same style shoe, same size. Normally color does not make a difference in how these shoes run as I have them in a few different colors and materials. I believe they have re-designed them to fit more like the increasingly popular So Kate 120mm and have fitted them with more true to size measurements. On the site under fit suggestion for the Pigalle 120mm it use to say to 'size down as this style runs large', not it says 'fits true to size'.

Both pairs were purchased from the Christian Louboutin website just at different times. Personally from what I can see I like the old design a bit better but I will need to try them in my true size now to know for sure. I find the old style overall more appealing but hopefully the new design with have a better, more secure fit similar to the So Kate 120mm (which also says 'fits true to size' on the website but I take a 1/2 size down - so 36.5 - I am a true 7) unfortunately in adjusting they fit they have compromised the style and aesthetic in my opinion.

(I did send back the Blue pair since they don't fit me.)

What do you guys think of this new change? Have you tried on/ordered/do you own one of these new pairs? Let me know your thoughts below! For some reason the new version doesn't look as sexy to me side by side.

Thanks again for reading! Hope this is helpful for some of you :)

Talk to you soon!

Love,
Holly

#WishListWednesday - #1 - Balenciaga, Freebird Boots, Christian Louboutin, Ryan Haber - #TheLuxeList

Welp...I decided to get on the ban wagon with these #WishListWednesday posts.

I think it'll be fun to share my sense of style with you in a different way. I can show you possible future purchases that I am saving towards and/or things that I would get if I had unlimited funds lol.

When I posted outfit of the day photos you get to see what I actually buy and wear - in these posts you'll be able to see some of the more luxe things I WANT to wear and buy - but can't necessarily justify the price tag.

I mean a girls gotta budget!

(I know that a lot of people post less extravagant things such as makeup etc. but truthfully for me if it's a more reasonable/less expensive purchase I would probably just go ahead and buy it lol.)

So with that....

My 1st #WishListWednesday

_____________

(Available in Peach, Brown & Black
(and of course the Peach are the most expensive -__-)

I look at these EVERY time I go into Nordstrom...and try them on. lol. I LOVE them so much but really can't justify the price!

The dusted peachy pink adds the perfect amount of girly without making these look too Barbie. I know there are tutorials on how to make these with various belts etc. but lets be honest - who has the time! Plus I would still need to buy a pair of leather boots.

I wish these were a little softer leather but maybe they'll break in. I tried them on in a 7 and they seem to fit fine. Totally lusting after them but almost $500 after tax I just can't do it! *cries*

Next up....Balenciaga

This actually may become an eventual purchase (and no this is not the bag I have been saving for) - I really want to get one of the mini city bags (the regular City is my favorite from Balenciaga), I've been looking at them sine I went to Vegas a few months ago.

Two things were holding me back on this purchase:

1. There wasn't a color I loved or that was different for me (until now : )
2. The price is so high for the size! There isn't that huge of a difference between this and a regular city despite this bag being so much smaller.

Eventually I will get one of the Mini City Bag - just not sure when or which color. I don't mind investing in something that I will have for a long time and enjoy over and over - I just need to know it's something I will get use out of.

Listed below are a few choices I would consider -

(but this in Gold Hardware - I would want Silver as shown)

They also have classic versions as well (the ones I've shown here are metallic or giant hardware which raises the price a little.) I believe the regular minis with the tassels are $1,235 - You can view them HERE.

And now we cycle back to shoes, shoes and more shoes. lol.

I have wanted these since before they were even released! Unfortunately they are sold out on the Ryan Haber site in 37 (7) so I would have to go else where to get them.
(I checked the site all the time so they must not have carried very many in that size - Ryan Haber is kind of an up and coming name in designer shoes so I wouldn't be surprised if the stock carried was significantly lower than some of the more well known brands out there. His designs are different and not something all your friends will have.)

I love any shoe that can incorporate a lucite without looking trashy. I feel like the gradient/ombre chunky heel of the Uptown is not only on trend right now but unexpected for this shoe.

Totally what makes it for me. (I also like anything with an ankle strap.)

I found that Gregory's Shoes DOES carry this style (and a few others from his line) and have them available in my size - they are even a little bit cheaper at $495 but hey - it is still $500 so something I would need to think about. Love them though. Yes they are an Italian made leather shoe with leather sole so they are going to be a bit pricey.

Ahh Louboutins - I feel like I will probably have one of these in every #WishListWednesday haha!

Christian Louboutin Pigalle Spikes (Black Leather with Silver Hardware)

$1,295

Been eyeing these bad boys for months!
I have always wanted the regular black leather pigalle with black spikes for a long time - unfortunately they are not currently available - they do have the Black Patent with Black Spike Pigalle Available HERE but I have so many patent shoes already they I really would want just the regular leather.

These have silver spikes which are way more noticeable than if I got the black on black and I almost feel like the sliver gives an almost biker appearance (although...obviously no one would wear these riding on the back of a bike lol.) which I'm not sure I would wear as often. If money was unlimited I would scoop these up no question and then just eventually have both pairs lol BUT that is not the case and these are some of the most expensive pairs of Louboutins I've looked at in a while.

I know a lot of people have misconceptions about all Louboutins being $1,000 and up but they actually have a huge selection of shoes that range anywhere from $475 - $725. Most of the classics (which is what I normally buy) are within that range at $625.
The regular Pigalles with no embellishments are $625 - Probably my most worn Louboutin style. I would collect them in every color if I could!

This pair is just so expensive that I am on the fence about them (leaning towards being sad and not buying them lol) - they are just too much. *CRIES*

I feel like even if I got some unexpected money from something I STILL wouldn't want to spend it on these because they are so much! To put it into perspective my rent is $1,700 a month - These would be $1,411.55 after tax.

Shoes like this have a more limited wear than a handbag, etc. especially with the silver spikes and my usually girly wardrobe. I do love them though - Only shoes I am interested in on the Louboutin site currently.

___________

That about wraps up my first #WishListWednesday - Hope you all enjoyed!!! : )

I look forward to my next one! Also let me know if you like seeing the actual pictures of the items taken with my iPhone - I notice a lot of people only use stock photos but I kind of like being able to show what the item looks like in real life if I can. IDK - that's how I "Wish List" personally, I just take pics of the things I want lol. Anyone else do that?

Thanks so much for reading! I can't wait to get back to my regular posts!!! They kind of stopped for a bit because I actually got in trouble for taking pics where I was taking them so now I have to find a new place, blah blah blahhh : \ so thank you for sticking it out with me!

Love you guys!

BTW I posted a new video on Monday and I will be posting a new one tonight!

Shoes, Monthly. February 2013

I actually found out about these Shoemint Lindsey Peep Toe Ankle Strap Pumps through one of you guys! (So thank you!) I was told they looked like they would be my style and sure enough I'm diggin' 'em!

I will of course have to wait and see how they are in person. The last few Shoemint purchases have been disappointing for me, I've returned countless pairs. The quality just hasn't been as good in my opinion.

Luckily since I have had returns there are a couple credits on my account and I was able to order these at no additional out of pocket cost.

The JustFab Zurich is a risk for me but for the price, it was one that I was willing to take.

I'm not typically into these lower/ankle boots because I don't think they are as flattering on me as other styles but that doesn't stop me from wanting to try!

There are a few high end designer brands that have something similar but I really can't see spending that much money on a trend I am experimenting with.

You may remember that Zara had a pair like these JustFab Ankara strappy sandals a while back. I had always kicked myself for not getting them (I found out about them too late!) so I wanted to make sure to scoop these up!

Of course they don't look as good quality but I am hoping in person it won't be so obvious. JustFab is pretty hit or miss from what I have experienced. Some of their shoes are great quality for the price, others have been terrible so I am hoping to get lucky with these.

-------------

A couple other pairs was considering:

JustFab Rouen in NUDE - Love the look of this shoe! The nude color even comes with two different ankle straps. One matching the shoe's color, the other in black. (I think that was a really nice idea!) This shoe shape looks pretty flattering on just about everyone! (Also it's a great price point for some fun shoes.)

Why I didn't buy them:

1. I am not sure of the fit quite yet. I usually wait for the reviews to start popping up on the site because I find them to be quite accurate. Similar styles from JustFab have run true to size for me in the past but every one in a while some will fit 1/2 size small, 1 full size small, 1/2 size large so I didn't want to risk it until I saw what others had to say.

2. I'm getting slightly over this design (meaning the Christian Louboutin Daffodil/Lady Daf rip offs that so many companies have been pumping out) - I have the Steve Madden Victoree, Steve Madden DejavuShoemint Edith, the JustFab Miley, not to mention a pair of Christian Louboutin Daffodils. I just feel like as good as they look (on/from the side) they are getting a little played out now. I don't wear mine very often because the front is so bulky giving them that slight "horse hoof" look and just overall I don't need the extra height.

Not sure if I will eventually cave but as of now I pass.

JustFab Austin - Just because I have always wanted a pair of cowboy boots but really don't want to spend too much in case I can't pull them off.

Why I didn't buy them:

1. Again I am concerned about the fit. These look like they would be true to size (even though I normally like to order a 1/2 size up in boots for some sock room) but I won't really know until the reviews start posting to the site.

2. I am afraid they will look too cheap. I've always wanted a pair of cowboy boots but I want a pair that are a little more authentic looking, something that will wear and break in giving that vintage look. After watching the video of the shoes on the site and how they move/flex I decided to pass on them.

I'd say I probably won't buy these and just put cowboy boots back on the wish list. I'll wait until I make a trip to somewhere like Nashville and splurge on a pair as a souvenir there.

----------

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my (monthly subscription) shoe selections for February. I just purchased them about an hour ago so I thought I would share especially since I don't typically do a YouTube video showcasing these purchases. If you are interested in how I end up liking them let me know.

(I will probably post on my Twitter/Facebook unless you'd like an update in a future post)

Thanks so much for reading and an extra THANK YOU to those that have started following!
Hope you have a great start to your weekend : ) See you again tomorrow!
